AI for supported independent living and SDA

AI for SIL and SDA providers

Supported independent living runs on shifts, handovers and house records. Every shift produces notes; every week produces a roster; every house has rules, routines and an emergency plan that each new worker has to learn. We build systems for house managers, rostering staff and SDA providers that take on the writing and the chasing, and leave the decisions about residents with the people who know them.

What AI can take on in a SIL or SDA service

  • Draft rosters for a manager to approve

Rosters drafted from worker availability, resident routines, ratio rules and continuity of staff, with gaps and conflicts shown, so the manager decides rather than assembles.

  • Shift notes into handovers

Each shift’s notes turned into a handover the next worker can read in a minute, with the original notes kept and anything unusual flagged for the team leader.

  • Incident report first drafts

A worker describes what happened, by voice or text, and gets a draft in the structure your incident process needs. The worker corrects it and the manager decides what is reported and to whom.

  • House information residents can use

House rules, routines, complaints information and emergency plans in Easy Read, audio and pictures, produced from your documents and checked with the residents themselves.

  • Maintenance and dwelling records

Maintenance requests logged, contractors chased and the dwelling’s records kept in one place, so the evidence is there when an SDA or quality question comes.

  • Worker questions answered overnight

Your policies and each resident’s support plan, searchable by the worker on shift, with the source shown and a clear escalation to the on-call person when a judgement is needed.

  • Induction content for each house

What is different about this house and these residents, in the formats workers actually use, updated when a plan or routine changes.

What stays with people

  • Decisions about restrictive practices, medication, incidents and reportable matters are made and signed by a person.
  • A resident’s choices about their own home and day are theirs; the systems record and remind, and the person decides.
  • Support plans are written and changed by the people who know the resident.
  • Resident information goes only where you have agreed it can go.

A draft is a draft until someone who knows the work has read it and signed it off. Every system we build waits for a person before anything is sent, submitted or decided.

On request we review the exact content against the NDIS Practice Standards and state the scope of that review in writing.

What we can build for you

  • A rostering assistant that works with the rostering and payroll systems you already use.
  • A shift note and handover tool with your templates and your escalation rules built in.
  • An incident drafting workflow that keeps the original account and the manager’s decision together.
  • A house knowledge base of policies and support plans, with access limited to the people on shift.

The wider set of provider needs is on AI for NDIS and disability providers. Worker induction videos at fixed prices are on induction and training videos.

How to start

  • A discovery session at $220 an hour inc GST: we work through one task with you, look at what you already have, and give you a written scope. You keep the scope whether or not you build with us.
  • A defined prototype: one task, working in your setting, with a clear finish line and a fixed written quote, agreed before any work starts.
  • A custom build in staged milestones, each quoted in writing before it starts, so you can stop at any stage and still have something you can use.

Why aXai

aXai is a disability-led AI, software and accessibility company. We build AI systems, software, and concepts and prototypes ready to scale, and we deliver them through AI-supported work: skilled people with disability in real, properly paid roles, working to clear quality standards, with AI removing the barriers and people keeping the accountability.

Every project runs on our own infrastructure, the Decision Bus and Project Layer, so each step is planned, signed off by a person and on the record. That is our operating advantage. Read how it works.
