AI-supported work: skilled people, real roles, AI removing the barriers
Most work is designed around a conventional worker and people are expected to adapt. We start with the person: what they are skilled at, how they work best, and which barriers in the work AI can remove. We then build a real role with clear quality standards, professional review and proper pay. That is AI-supported work.
This page explains how the model runs, the roles it produces, and how to take part.
What AI-supported work is
AI-supported work is how aXai delivers: skilled people with disability in real, properly paid roles, working to clear quality standards, with AI removing the barriers and people keeping the accountability. It is how we run the company: client work broken into defined, quality-controlled roles done by skilled people at proper pay, with AI removing barriers in the work and leaving accountability where it belongs, with the person.
Every project runs on our own infrastructure, the Decision Bus and Project Layer, so each step is planned, signed off by a person and on the record.
How a role comes to exist
Every role comes out of paid client work, in this order.
- Win a client project for a genuine business outcome.
- Break the work into defined tasks, risks and quality standards.
- Identify tasks that can become paid roles matched to a person’s strengths and the adjustments they use.
- Use AI and accessible tools to remove barriers in the work, with accountability staying with the person.
- Apply professional review and quality assurance.
- Pay for the work, record consent and attribution, and measure the outcome.
- Reuse the tools and learning to create more work on later projects.
Professional responsibility for the finished work stays with aXai and the qualified people who sign it off. Each role is a paid professional role with a written task description, market-rate pay and the adjustments the person needs.
Examples of roles; the full range follows the project
These are the kinds of paid professional roles our client work produces. Which of them are open at any time depends on the projects we have won.
- Software development, data work and integration.
- Design: interfaces, mocks and prototypes.
- Content authoring, Easy Read and accessible-content review.
- Presenting: avatar presenting, voice work and content selection.
- Consulting and lived-experience co-design.
- Digital accessibility and usability testing.
- Review and quality assurance against clear checklists.
- Research tagging, categorisation and structured data work.
- Content preparation and production.
- Evaluation of whether an AI answer is useful, safe and understandable.
How roles are designed, safeguarded and paid
Designed around the person
The role starts from what someone is skilled at and how they work best: hours, pace, communication, environment and tools. AI is treated like a ramp or a screen reader, a tool in the hands of the professional doing the job.
Clear standards and real review
Every role has a written task description, a quality checklist and a named person who reviews the work. The standard is the same professional standard as any other work we deliver; the adjustments change how it is reached.
Fair payment and consent
Each person is paid for the work on agreed terms, at market rates. Consent for any use of a person’s likeness, voice or story is recorded in accessible form and can be withdrawn.
Safeguards and a way to complain
Privacy, conflict-of-interest and safeguarding controls, a complaints route, and a plain written answer on what happens between projects and when a task changes.
These controls are written into every role, and the records behind them are the evidence we give a procurement team on request.

Why aXai
aXai is a disability-led AI, software and accessibility company. We build AI systems, software, and concepts and prototypes ready to scale, and we deliver them through AI-supported work: skilled people with disability in real, properly paid roles, working to clear quality standards, with AI removing the barriers and people keeping the accountability.
Every project runs on our own infrastructure, the Decision Bus and Project Layer, so each step is planned, signed off by a person and on the record. That is our operating advantage. Read how it works.

Questions
Does every project create a paid role?
Roles come from projects whose tasks can be defined, supported and reviewed to a clear standard. As each role opens, we describe it here.
Can you give us numbers for a tender or a report?
Yes: what our records prove, which today is the model, the controls and the roles that exist. Our social procurement page sets out the evidence we can give.
Is this an NDIS service?
AI-supported work is how aXai delivers commercial projects. Our upcoming participant program, AI mentoring, is separate and is described on the programs page.
What information does the partnership form collect?
Your name, email, organisation, what you have in mind and when. That is all it needs; please keep disability, health or participant information out of it.
