AI for allied health

AI for allied health practices

Occupational therapists, physiotherapists, speech pathologists, psychologists, behaviour support practitioners and exercise physiologists lose clinical hours to notes, reports and intake every week. We build systems for practices and sole practitioners that take on the administrative and drafting work, so the clinical hours go to clients. Clinical judgement, diagnosis, treatment and recommendations stay with the practitioner in everything we build.

What AI can take on in an allied health practice

  • Session notes from your dictation

You describe the session, and a draft note appears in your own template, ready for you to correct and save. The recording and the draft stay separate until you approve.

  • Report assembly

Assessment results, history and goals assembled into your report structure, including the functional capacity and assistive technology formats funders ask for. You write the findings and the recommendations.

  • Home programs clients can follow

Exercise programs, communication strategies and therapy handouts in plain language, Easy Read, pictures and audio, produced from your material and checked by the treating clinician.

  • Intake and triage administration

Referral forms, consent, waitlist communication and appointment reminders handled automatically, with new referrals summarised for the clinician who decides what happens next.

  • A practice knowledge base

Your protocols, service policies and the funding documents your practice relies on, searchable by staff, with the source and its date on every answer.

  • Billing preparation

Sessions matched to service agreements and plan budgets, with mismatches flagged for your admin team before an invoice goes out.

What stays with people

  • Clinical advice comes from the registered practitioner. The systems draft, assemble and remind; the clinician assesses, diagnoses, treats and recommends.
  • Every client-facing document is checked by the treating clinician before it is shared.
  • Your professional obligations, including record-keeping and consent, are written into the scope and kept by the design.
  • Client information goes only where you have agreed it can go.

A draft is a draft until someone who knows the work has read it and signed it off. Every system we build waits for a person before anything is sent, submitted or decided.

On request we review the exact content against the NDIS Practice Standards and state the scope of that review in writing.

What we can build for you

  • A note-drafting tool that uses your templates and works with your practice management system.
  • A report assembly tool for the report types you write most often.
  • An accessible home program tool with the clinician’s review step built in.
  • An intake workflow and a practice knowledge base.

Practices that work with NDIS participants will also find the wider provider picture on AI for NDIS and disability providers. Client information in every format is on accessible content and video.

How to start

  • A discovery session at $220 an hour inc GST: we work through one task with you, look at what you already have, and give you a written scope. You keep the scope whether or not you build with us.
  • A defined prototype: one task, working in your setting, with a clear finish line and a fixed written quote, agreed before any work starts.
  • A custom build in staged milestones, each quoted in writing before it starts, so you can stop at any stage and still have something you can use.

Why aXai

aXai is a disability-led AI, software and accessibility company. We build AI systems, software, and concepts and prototypes ready to scale, and we deliver them through AI-supported work: skilled people with disability in real, properly paid roles, working to clear quality standards, with AI removing the barriers and people keeping the accountability.

Every project runs on our own infrastructure, the Decision Bus and Project Layer, so each step is planned, signed off by a person and on the record. That is our operating advantage. Read how it works.
