Working sessions to plan and build with AI
A working session is a few hours with an experienced engineer, on your real problem, at your screen or ours. You bring the question: where AI could help, whether a system is worth building, what to do about a project that is stuck, or how to use the tools you already pay for. You leave with something decided, planned or built.
Sessions are $220 an hour inc GST, booked by the hour, with no minimum package and no retainer.
Who the sessions are for
Leaders
You need to decide what AI should and should not do in your organisation, what it will cost, what the risks are and what to tell your board or staff. A session gives you a straight answer and a written note of what was decided.
Founders
You have an idea and need to know whether it can be built, what the first version should be and what it would take. A session turns the idea into a scoped first step, and sometimes into a working sketch of it.
Teams
Your developers, analysts or content staff want to work faster with AI without lowering the standard of what they ship. A session works on their real tasks, with their real tools, and leaves them with practices they keep.
What happens in a session
- Before we start, you send the problem in a few lines and anything we should read.
- In the session, we work on it together: looking at your systems and data, sketching options, and building or testing where that is the quickest way to an answer.
- You keep everything produced: notes, diagrams, code, a written scope, a decision.
- At the end we say plainly what we think you should do next, including when that is nothing, or something you can do without us.
Sessions are online or in person, in plain language, with technical depth on request. Nothing is recorded unless you ask for it.
Common sessions
Where does AI fit here?
A walk through your operations to find the few places where AI or automation would remove real work, and the places where it would only add risk.
Is this worth building?
A scoping session that ends with a written scope and a straight estimate, whether or not you build with us.
An AI policy for our staff
What your people may and may not do with AI tools, written so they can follow it. See also AI consulting for small business.
Build it with us
A hands-on session where a working first version is built in front of you, with you steering, so you understand what you have and can change it.
The method has a name: Vybrid
We call the way we build in these sessions Vybrid: an experienced engineer, working with modern AI tools in front of you, accountable for the result, with you in the room steering. It is how we build our own products and it is what a “build it with us” session looks like.
The name matters less than the practice. What you should expect is a person who understands your problem, works quickly, and can explain every decision. Read more on Vybrid coding.
Why aXai
aXai is a disability-led AI, software and accessibility company. We build AI systems, software, and concepts and prototypes ready to scale, and we deliver them through AI-supported work: skilled people with disability in real, properly paid roles, working to clear quality standards, with AI removing the barriers and people keeping the accountability.
Every project runs on our own infrastructure, the Decision Bus and Project Layer, so each step is planned, signed off by a person and on the record. That is our operating advantage. Read how it works.
Working sessions are also how organisations design roles of their own around AI-supported work with us: which barriers in a job AI can remove, which adjustments the work needs, and how to keep quality and accountability with people. Read about AI-supported work.
Questions
How long is a session?
Most are two to four hours. You book by the hour and we tell you before we start how long we think the question needs.
Do we need to prepare?
Send the problem in a few lines and anything we should read. That is enough. The session is where the work happens.
What if the answer is that we should not build anything?
Then that is what we will say, in writing, with the reasons. You have paid for a decision, and that is what you get.
Is this the same as mentoring?
Working sessions are for organisations and their teams. Our future AI mentoring program for people with disability is a separate, participant-facing service; see the programs page for its current status.
