Why we exist

Why aXai exists: AI-supported work

aXai exists to create skilled, paid roles for people with disability through AI-supported work. That is the whole idea, and this page explains it.

The problem we are working on

Skilled people with disability are kept out of skilled work by the way jobs are designed: fixed hours, fast meetings, crowded offices, long documents, phone calls, and one narrow way of doing every task. The barrier sits in the job design, and design can be changed.

A job designed around one kind of worker excludes everyone else. We design the job around the person doing it, and hold the work to the same professional standard.

What we do about it

We build roles around the person: what they are skilled at and how they work best set the hours, the pace, the tools and the way the work is reviewed. The standard of the work stays professional, and the pay is proper pay for skilled work.

AI removes barriers in the workplace. We treat it the way you would treat a ramp, a screen reader or a hearing loop: a tool in the hands of the person doing the job. The person stays in charge of their work and accountable for it. How the roles are designed, reviewed and paid is set out on AI-supported work.

Our AI mentoring program is separate from that. People with disability learn to use AI for a goal they choose; some choose to take a skill towards paid work, with any employer, and that is the person’s decision.

What a project does

aXai earns its way. We sell software, AI systems, concepts and prototypes, training videos, accessibility work and advice, at commercial prices, to organisations that need them, and that client work is where the skilled roles come from.

When you commission a project, you get professional work, delivered to the standard you agreed.

A job that exists because a customer needed something done is a real job, on the same commercial footing as any other.

What you can hold us to

  • A plain statement of what aXai is: a disability-led AI, software and accessibility company that delivers through AI-supported work.
  • Figures from our records, on request, for any report or tender that needs them.
  • Roles offered on their merits, and funding questions answered from the facts of each case.
  • A straight answer, in writing, when you ask what we can evidence.

If you are reporting on social procurement, our social procurement page sets out the evidence we can give.

Four ways to work with us

  • Commission a project. A single video or an hour of advice is a project.
  • Add us to your supplier panel. Our social procurement page has the supplier evidence.
  • Review how your own roles are designed with us, in a working session.
  • Refer someone who wants AI mentoring to our AI mentoring program.

Why aXai

aXai is a disability-led AI, software and accessibility company. We build AI systems, software, and concepts and prototypes ready to scale, and we deliver them through AI-supported work: skilled people with disability in real, properly paid roles, working to clear quality standards, with AI removing the barriers and people keeping the accountability.

Every project runs on our own infrastructure, the Decision Bus and Project Layer, so each step is planned, signed off by a person and on the record. That is our operating advantage. Read how it works.

Questions

How is aXai funded?

By its clients. You buy professional work from us at commercial prices, and that work is what funds the roles.

Can you give us figures on the jobs aXai has created?

Yes. Ask us and we will give you figures you can put in a report or a tender, backed by our records. Our social procurement page lists the other evidence we can give.

Is the work as good as any other supplier’s?

Judge it for yourself. Our work page shows products we have built and run, and you can ask for a video sample made from your own material before you buy.

What does neurodivergent-led mean?

It means the business is led by a neurodivergent person, and that different ways of thinking shape how we design our work and our roles.
