Nearly three years have passed since the NDIA and CSIRO developed their grand AI-Enabled Assistive Technology Framework. Their conclusion?
🛑 “Moving into the future, a Roadmap is required to successfully implement and operationalise the Framework.”
Fantastic. A framework that requires another framework. That was in 2022. It’s now 2025—where is this so-called roadmap?
AI: The Great Enabler… Unless You’re the NDIA
Artificial intelligence has the power to unlock independence, providing precisely pitched instructions, real-time assistive technology, and predictive supports that actually enable people to function autonomously. Enable them to create their own assistive technologies.
Instead, the NDIA and government are sinking all their energy into barriers:
🔴 Analysing deficits instead of strengths
🔴 Forcing people through adversarial processes
🔴 Dragging participants through trial after trial until they are worn down and exhausted
By the time the NDIA finally produces their roadmap, the entire AI landscape will have changed—and they’ll be stuck commissioning another multi-million-dollar review on what went wrong.
I’m Done Waiting. Let’s Get On With It.
If bureaucracy won’t move, we will. I have a vision—a real one—to empower people with AI and coding skills, giving them the tools to break free from a system that only knows how to say ‘no’.
Collaboration doesn’t mean more committees, more working groups, and more delays. It means action.
If the government wants to sit on its hands, so be it. The real work of AI-driven accessibility and empowerment starts now.
